Dupaco Presents Cowbell Cup

Credit Union Rings in New Season of Fierce Rivalries

The Waterloo Black Hawks, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, and Dubuque Fighting Saints, are pleased to jointly announce a new presenting sponsor for the most fiercely contested hockey trophy in Iowa; during 2015/16, the three teams will vie for the coveted Dupaco Community Credit Union Cowbell Cup.

With 19 offices located in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, Dupaco helps to improve the financial lives of its nearly 88,000 member owners, while making a positive difference in the communities it serves. This is the first season in which Dupaco has been the presenting sponsor of the Cowbell Cup.

“Supporting local community organizations and bringing value to our members are both important initiatives of Dupaco,” said Joe Hearn, President and CEO, Dupaco Community Credit Union. “We’re excited to ring in the hockey season by partnering with the Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, and Waterloo teams of the USHL as the presenting sponsor of the Cowbell Cup series! This partnership allows us to help provide excellent family-friendly events as well as to share our cooperative message.”

The Dupaco Community Credit Union Cowbell Cup series will include 12 games for each of the three participating teams. For the complete schedule, please see the following page.

“During this summer, I have heard from our fans about their great enthusiasm the Waterloo-Dubuque and Waterloo-Cedar Cedar Rapids rivalries,” said Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. “Dupaco has been a terrific supporter of the Black Hawks since arriving in the Cedar Valley, and we are thrilled that they have become involved with these games which mean so much to our players and fans.”

During the 2014/15 season, the Fighting Saints took top honors in a remarkably close battle for the cup. Each squad claimed at least five head-to-head victories as Dubuque earned 14 points, edging Waterloo by two and Cedar Rapids by four.

The RoughRiders and Fighting Saints play eight USHL regular season games against each other, so matchups on Saturday, October 17th in Cedar Rapids and Friday, January 8th in Dubuque will not count towards the Cowbell Cup standings.

Dupaco has been a bright spot in the community and the lives of its members since 1948. As a not-for-profit cooperative institution, Dupaco Community Credit Union is owned by the members who use its services and managed by a volunteer board of directors.
