Postgame Recap: Stampede Take Saturday Tilt

The Sioux Falls Stampede scored early on Saturday, then stayed out of reach on their way to a 6-3 victory against the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena.

Just 24 seconds into the action, Josh Passolt lifted a long, low wrist shot into the net to put the visitors permanently ahead.  Parker Tuomie built the lead with a breakaway goal at 13:36, followed just over a minute later by a transition chance off the crossbar and into the net from Eric MacAdams.

For both Tuomie and MacAdams, the tallies were the first of two they would each score during the contest.  MacAdams added another 3:25 into the second on a shot from the right circle, while Tuomie’s second came on a power play with just under nine minutes remaining in regulation.  Matt Riggleman added an empty-netter with 1:10 to go.

Meanwhile, Waterloo recorded a goal per period with Sam McCormick involved each time.  At 15:56 of the first, he pumped in a rebound from the slot to make the score 3-1.  With 2:53 to play in the second, McCormick found Ryan Lohin streaking up left wing and set him up for a tally which put the count at 4-2.  McCormick struck one more time with 1:59 to go in regulation during an empty-net, delayed penalty situation which brought Waterloo within two goals one final time.

The Hawks now head east for three road games next weekend against the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Chicago Steel, and Dubuque Fighting Saints.
