Preseason Recap: Hawks Top Muskies at Fall Classic

Shane Bowers scored two second period goals to lift the Waterloo Black Hawks to a 3-1 win Thursday against the Sioux City Musketeers in the first tilt for each team during the United States Hockey League Fall Classic West in Omaha.

Tied 1-1 in the second period, the second-year Hawk forward notched the go-ahead goal at 14:22.  Bowers tallied another 50 seconds before intermission to cap the scoring.

Sioux City’s Jackson Keane had netted the first goal of the contest at 1:32 of the second period.  The Hawks tied it when Bailey Conger scored less than two minutes prior to Bowers’ first goal.

Now 1-1 during exhibition play, Waterloo’s next game is in Omaha Friday at 10 a.m. against the Des Moines Buccaneers.
