Alumni Three Stars of the Week: November 17th

Karen’s Print Rite presents an update on top performances by former Black Hawks each week with the Alumni Three Stars of the Week feature.

#3 – Brandon Montour
San Diego Gulls (AHL) • Defenseman

Doubling his goal total last weekend, Montour scored in each of San Diego’s wins against the Manitoba Moose.  Friday, he delivered the winning goal in a 3-2 result, then Saturday, he put the puck into the net to break a 1-1 tie before the Gulls went on to a 6-3 victory.  He also assisted on the winner.  All totaled, Montour stacked up four points during the two games.  In his second full season as a professional hockey player, the Ontario native now has a dozen points (four goals, eight assists) in ten games.

#2 – Blake Kessel
Atlanta Gladiators (ECHL) • Defenseman

Kessel has been on an absolute tear during the last week.  In four games, he has four goals and three assists.  His week was highlighted by a three-point (two goals, one assist) game on Sunday, which included the game-winning score as the Gladiators romped to a 7-6 win against the Reading Royals.  The goal came with one second remaining and swung Atlanta to the lead after they had been trailing minutes earlier.  The veteran now has 16 points in 16 ECHL games.  Kessel has at least one point in six of his last seven appearances.

#1 – Stephon Williams
Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) • Goalie

One shootout road win deserves another.  Last Friday, Williams helped the Sound Tigers to overtime with 21 saves in regulation, then followed with three more stops in overtime.  Turning away three of four Syracuse Crunch shooters in a shootout lifted Bridgeport to a 3-2 victory.  More extra time was required the following night in a 4-3 result against the Hershey Bears.  Williams made 35 saves before going three-for-three in the shootout.  The wins were the first of the season for Williams, who won 15 American Hockey League games last winter.
