Mikhail Berdin stopped 40 Waterloo Black Hawks shots Sunday and the Sioux Falls Stampede rolled into the United States Hockey League’s holiday break with a 6-0 win at Sanford Premier Center.
The Stampede scored three times in the opening period, starting at 1:09 when Paul DeNaples’ shot from the right point was redirected in by Jack Doremus. Josh Passolt had the next two goals: the first on a shorthanded rush at 10:35 and the next three-and-a-half minutes later on a give-and-go with Max Johnson.
Sioux Falls added two in the third, the first knocked across the line by Jack Becker at 13:41 and the second during a four-on-four sequence from Will Garin with 33 seconds remaining before intermission.
Becker added a final goal 6:27 of the third, scoring from a sharp angle originating from the bottom of the left circle.
The Hawks’ next game is ten days away on December 29th in Muskegon, Michigan, against the Lumberjacks. Following five-in-a-row on the road, the Hawks will return to Young Arena on New Year’s Eve to meet the Madison Capitols.
