Karen’s Print Rite presents an update on top performances by former Black Hawks each week with the Alumni Three Stars of the Week feature.

#3 – Nick Sorkin
Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) • Forward

During two games last weekend, Sorkin provided a flurry of offense.  Wheeling blasted the Norfolk Admirals 9-2 on Friday.  Sorkin recorded a goal, which proved to be the winner, among the Nailers’ four second period scores.  He added two assists during the third period.  Saturday, Sorkin boosted his weekend point total to five, assisting on both Wheeling goals during a 2-1 win against the Reading Royals.  With 29 points in 32 appearances, Sorkin is tied as the Nailers’ top scorer this season.

#2 – Kyle Schmidt
Bentley Falcons (NCAA) • Forward

A majority of Bentley’s offense involved Schmidt during a pair of Atlantic Hockey matchups versus Sacred Heart.  The junior had two goals, including the game-winner during a 3-2 victory on Friday.  In Saturday’s rematch, Schmidt had two more goals, plus an assist, despite a 5-4 final which went against the Falcons.  Since New Year’s Eve, Schmidt is riding a seven-game point streak which includes eight goals and four assists.

#1 – Nick Ebert
Texas Stars (AHL) • Defenseman

Ebert recorded the first multi-goal game of his professional hockey career on Friday when the Stars visited the Iowa Wild.  Texas had trailed for most of the game, then tied the score midway through the third.  Ebert broke the tie with his first goal seconds later.  After Iowa forced overtime in the final minute, Ebert struck again for the winner in overtime.  For good measure, he ended a series of three games at +2.  Ebert has five goals and five assists during his first season in the Stars organization.
