Hawks Acquire Youngstown Forward
Future Bowling Green State University Falcon Sam Craggs has been acquired from the Youngstown Phantoms, the Waterloo Black Hawks announced Thursday.
The forward from the Chicago suburbs has skated in 15 United States Hockey League games during the 2016/17 season. Craggs scored one goal while notching three assists for the Phantoms. His season has been highlighted by a three-game point streak in mid-November.
Craggs spent the 2015/16 campaign with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League. Although he appeared in just 47 of Springfield’s 60 games, Craggs still tied as the squad’s goal scoring leader, with 17. His +9 plus/minus differential ranked second for the Jr. Blues. Craggs is product of the Team Illinois AAA hockey program.
After completing his junior hockey career, Craggs will join his brother, Lukas, who is currently a freshman at Bowling Green.
Sam Craggs’ first opportunity to skate for the Hawks could come Friday when the Black Hawks open a three-game weekend. The initial matchup will be against the Omaha Lancers at 7:05 p.m. For tickets or additional information, call the Domino’s Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or visit waterlooblackhawks.com.
