Pierre McGuire to Visit Hawks Fans

NBC Sports Analyst Delivers Insights in Waterloo February 9th

Pierre McGuire has covered the biggest National Hockey League and Olympic hockey games on NBC for more than a decade; on Thursday, February 9th at 5:30 p.m., he brings insights from those experiences to Waterloo Black Hawks’ season ticket holders during an exclusive, free event at Sunnyside Country Club.

McGuire has been NBC’s lead ‘Inside-the-Glass’ reporter since 2006. In 2013, he won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality – Sports Reporter.  McGuire also serves as an analyst for NBCSN’s coverage of college hockey and the annual NHL Draft.

“Bringing a guest of Pierre’s reputation to Waterloo is something our fans will be excited about,” said Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O’Handley.  “There is not a media analyst closer to what is happening on and off the ice in the NHL, and we are very excited that this opportunity is available to the most insightful fans at Young Arena, our season ticket holders.”

Limited seating is available for the hour-long event.  Although there is no charge to attend, season ticket holders must RSVP by Tuesday, February 7th. Call the Black Hawks front office at 319-232-3444.

Prior to his broadcasting career, McGuire was a successful coach and scout.  His credentials include stops at New York’s Hobart College, Babson College in Massachusetts, and St. Lawrence University. In 1990, McGuire was hired as a scout by the Pittsburgh Penguins, working for the organization during its run to consecutive Stanley Cup championships.  He went on to serve as a scout and assistant coach for the Hartford Whalers and Ottawa Senators.
