Limoges and Ryczek Give Strong Performances

Alex Limoges and Jake Ryczek were each recognized with a respective share of the United States Hockey League’s weekly award for their positions on Monday.

Limoges is the co-CCM Forward of the Week with Blake Lizotte of the Fargo Force.  Ryczek shares the CCM Defenseman of the Week title with Mario Ferraro of the Des Moines Buccaneers.

On the road in Dubuque on Friday, both players set up their teammates for important goals in a 5-3 victory against the Fighting Saints.  Tied at 1-1 in the second period, a Limoges faceoff win led to a Shane Bowers goal, which put the Hawks in front for good.  Limoges also assisted on Ethan Spaxman’s second period tally, which proved to be the game winner.  Ryczek’s third period power play point shot was deflected in by Kevin Charyszyn, setting the final margin of victory.

Saturday at home against the league-leading Sioux City Musketeers, a Limoges pass created Emil Ohrvall’s goal just four minutes after the opening faceoff, sending the Hawks on their way to a 6-1 win.  Limoges himself scored just over four minutes later, assisted by Ryczek.  Each honoree had a goal in the third: Ryczek made it 5-1 at 6:27, and Limoges had the final tally with under ten minutes to play.

In just over a month since joining the Black Hawks from the Tri-City Storm, Limoges now has five goals and 11 assists.  His performances on Friday and Saturday accounted for five points and were the fourth and fifth multipoint efforts in just 11 games for Waterloo.  Adding 31 points from his time with the Storm, Limoges is tied for seventh in USHL scoring.

Ryczek was +3 in addition to his goal and two assists.  He now leads the USHL with a +30 plus/minus differential this season.  The Providence recruit is one point shy of 30, and his eight goals tie with Ferraro for the most by league defensemen.  Ryczek was twice named the league’s CCM Defenseman of the Week earlier this season.

Black Hawks players have now collected at least one of the league’s weekly awards on five of the last seven Mondays.  In total, Waterloo has claimed a share of 13 such awards.
