Hawks Announce New Location for Season Celebration

Cedar Valley hockey fans will make their way to downtown Waterloo on Sunday, April 2nd.

No, the Waterloo Black Hawks have not added a late-season Sunday afternoon game to the schedule.  Instead, the team’s annual season celebration and awards presentation will be conducted at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, located just across West 1st Street from Young Arena.

Quickly becoming a tradition to kick off the final week of regular season play, this year’s event will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m.  Since 2015, season ticket holders have been admitted on an RSVP-basis at no charge.  However, this season, attendance will be limited exclusively to season ticket holders. Please call the Black Hawks front office at (319) 232-3444 to confirm your attendance.

“Our fans give the players tremendous support when they’re on the ice in their helmets and jerseys.  During this event, the players receive that recognition face-to-face, and I think that is what really makes these evenings special,” said Waterloo Black Hawks Vice President of Business Operations Joe Greene.

In addition to the awards presentation and program, fans will enjoy complimentary appetizers, with a cash bar available.

Nearly all of the awards to be presented are based on a secret ballot within the locker room, allowing the Hawks to honor their teammates with titles including Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, and more.

The Waterloo Center for the Arts is located at 225 Commercial Street.  The facility houses community arts programs, as well as the Waterloo Community Playhouse, Black Hawk Children’s Theatre, Waterloo Municipal Band, Metropolitan Chorale, and serves as a meeting, presentation, and performance facility for approximately 50 other community and cultural organizations.
