Black Hawks Skate Starting October 7th
The complete 2017/18 Waterloo Black Hawks schedule was revealed by the United States Hockey League on Tuesday; the Hawks’ first game will be on the road against the Sioux Falls Stampede Saturday, October 7th.
The 60-game campaign will be conducted from October 7th through April 14th. Waterloo will play 30 road and 30 home games while bidding for the Anderson Cup regular season championship and a berth in the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs. The Hawks home opener was previously announced and will be played against the Dubuque Fighting Saints one week later on Saturday, October 14th.
“Our fans have been looking forward to today, which is another indication that hockey season will be here in no time,” noted Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. “The Black Hawks would like to recognize all of those involved in this thankless process; the team is excited to be able to provide this schedule to our fans more than a week ahead of when it was announced last summer.”
The coming season will be highlighted by traditional Young Arena home games on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. Waterloo will meet in-state rivals on both nights: the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will be one hand for Thanksgiving for the 18th consecutive year, while the Des Moines Buccaneers will visit on the final day of the calendar year. The home slate also includes 16 Saturday nights and seven Fridays.
Home games will generally begin at 7:05, with the following exceptions: New Year’s Eve (6:05), Sunday, January 14th versus Omaha (3:05), and Sunday, January 28th versus Sioux Falls (3:05).
A six-game homestand will plant the Hawks at home from January 20th through February 6th. The longest string of road games, from October 29th through November 11th, will take the club to Bloomington, Sioux City, Fargo, and Kearney, Nebraska, for five contests.
Single-game tickets for all home games will go on sale September 1st. Season tickets and group reservations are currently available. Season tickets may be purchased starting at $29 per month, while group tickets can be ordered from just $8 each. For more details, call the Black Hawks’ front office at (319) 232-3444.
